Back on the wagon: El-P - Cancer for the cure

Alright, Dropping any attempt to be regular with this, no more grandiose promises. I'd love to have a bit more time to say a few things about music I like that's coming out, but I'm just a bit too busy.

So, I am a big fan of anything adult swim does. Including the bands that get any sort of association. There's that late night, adults who still watch cartoons vibe that I guess I will always enjoy. El-P is one of these artists, I was vaguely aware of a few tracks from "I'll sleep when you're dead" being pretty good, but at the time I wasn't listening to much hip hop.

Queue the debut of "Drones over BRKLYN" on Adult Swim. Suddenly my little ears prick up, I like the track, it's that NY sounding Alt Hip-Hop that I love (Not quite Psyche Origami, more the new age, angrier brothers to that sound). I patiently await, and consequentially forget the release date. Now I have the album in my hot little hand. After overcoming the initial sadness that "El-P" isn't El "to" P, or L2P for those who are awful at phonetics, I gave it a good listen.
It took me to the second listen to "get" his flow. I've been listening to mostly more lightweight nerdcore stuff in hiphop lately, so this was a bit of a change of pace for me. However, the tracks behind were great from the start. Droning dark synths and quality drum machines, swap out the vocals and crank up the tempo a little and some would be industrial songs even.

Well enough from me, he put more work into this than I did listening to it(which was a sum total of none, in fact I enjoyed listening to it), so here you are.
